Diane Fleri

Diane Fleri (1983-    ) is a famous actress of Italian cinema, television and theater.  She was born in Quimper, Brittany (France) to a French national mother of Vietnamese origin and an Italian national father of Estonian origin.  In a family of five children, Fleri spent her years growing up in several different countries.  When she was just a year old, she left her native Brittany with her family and moved to Jerusalem, Israel where her father worked as a diplomat.  After eight years living in Israel, out of concern for his family's safety due to the political unrest in the Middle East and how an imminent full-scale war was underway, Fleri's father again relocated the family first resettling temporarily in Malta before finally moving to Rome, Italy.

At the age of 15 while a high school student in Rome, Diane Fleri made her film debut after being cast for the role of Arianna in Gabriele Muccino's Come Te Nessuno Mai (But Forever in My Mind).  How she had landed her first film role was merely accidental, according to Fleri.  Without any intention of landing a part for the film, Fleri had decided to accompany her friend to the casting call who was auditioning for the role of Arianna.  Much to her surprise, Muccino ended up chosing Fleri for the part that her friend had auditioned for.  Mucino has since revealed that he was able to see strong star potential in Fleri and also knew that she was a natural as an actress. Despite the recognition she would acquire following the release of the film in 1999, Diane Fleri was still not convinced that she had become a professional actress and chose to continue with her education.  She enrolled as a political science major and went to live in Paris the following year to study acting.  It was in Paris that Fleri would make her theatrical debut in the French play, Que Faire.  In 2007, Diane Fleri would co-star in the Italian film directed by Daniele Luchetti, Mio Fratello è Figlio Unico (My Brother Is an Only Child).  Her portrayal of Francesca in the film has been considered as her breakthrough film role which turned her into a star.

Since then, Diane Fleri has starred in many other Italian films such as Solo Un Padre (Just a Father) (2008), Lo Sono Amore (I Am Love) (2009), L'amore Fa Male (Love Hurts) (2011), Anche Se è Amore Non Si Rede (It May Be Love, But It Doesn't Show) (2011), Posti in Piedi in Paradiso (A Flat for Three) (2012) and Nina (2012) where she was cast as the lead actress.  As for her acting credits for Italian television, Fleri has found major success in her role as Professor Melanie Desmoulins in the widely popular Italian television mini-series, I Liceali (2008-2009), and a recurring role as Emanuela in the Italian television series, Questro Nostro Amore (2014).

Although she has often been revered by Italian entertainment magazines as one of Italy's most beautiful actresses, Diane Fleri has publicly insisted that she does not view herself as a sex symbol and has repeatedly turned down offers of being photographed for fashion magazines and calendars.  As for her personal life, Fleri has managed to maintain her privacy by not disclosing any details about her love interests with the press.  She lives and works primarily in Rome.  And when she's not acting, Diane Fleri devotes most of her time being a mother to her adopted daughter.
