Yohan Cabaye

Yohan Cabaye (1986-     ) is an internationally renowned French footballer.  His father, Didier Cabaye, had also been a professional footballer in France and is of French-Vietnamese mixed heritage.  Born in Tourcoing, France, Cabaye began his career as a footballer at the age of 6 when he joined his hometown club, Tourcoing FC.  After 6 years playing competitively as a youth for Tourcoing FC, Cabaye turned professional and first signed a three-year contract with Lille Club in 2004 which was extended until 2011.  After leaving the Lille Club, he played for New Castle United for 3 years.  Since 2013, Yohan Cabaye has been playing for the Paris Saint-Germain club as midfielder.  In his professional career, he has earned 30 caps and has represented France in UEFA Euro 2012 and the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

Yohan Cabaye is currently married to his wife, Fiona.  Together, the couple have two daughters.  Cabaye has publicly stated that he would like to one day visit the country of Vietnam and possibly contribute to football there.

  1. "Mixed heritage" is perhaps contentious. Yes his grandmother is/was Vietnamese ie born and raised in Vietnam, just how a South African can be white but still fully African.
