Tyga (1989- ) is an American rap artist.of Vietnamese and Jamaican descent.
Born on November 19, 1989 as Michael Ray Nguyen-Stevenson in Compton, California, he grew up listening to the likes of Fabolous, Lil Wayne, Cam'ron and Eminem. Tyga first came to prominence after the release of his first studio album, No Introduction, in 2008 which spawned his first Billboard Hot 100 charted hit single, Coconut Juice. Since then, he has had three major Top Ten hit singles, recorded a total of 4 studio albums, been nominated for a Grammy Award, and in 2012 signed with Young Money Entertainment, Cash Money Records and Republic Records. That same year, Tyga had won a MuchMusic Video Award in the category of MuchVIBE Hip-Hop Video of the Year for his work in The Motto with Drake and Lil Wayne.

Among Tyga's biggest hit singles include BedRock, Rack City and Loyal, all three of which were RIAA certified platinum with having sold at least 1 million copies each. Both BedRock and Rack City had gone multi-platinum; certified 6x platinum and 4x platinum, respectively. In 2010, Tyga along with Kevin McCall were featured artists on a Chris Brown single, Deuces, which became a number one hit on the R&B singles chart. With such commercial success through the past years, Tyga has become one of the most respected rap artists in the music industry.
