Ho Quynh Huong


Hồ Quỳnh Hương (1980-    ) is a famous Vietnamese singer.  She is known as the Vietnamese singer with the most accolades which include 3 Mai Vàng Awards (Golden Orchid Awards) for Best Female Singer of the Year in 2004, 2006 and 2007, 10 Làn Sóng Xanh Awards and an Mnet Asian Music Award (MAMA) for Asian Artist of the Year in 2014.  Known for her diversity in music genres, Ho Quynh Huong sings ballads, rock and roll and jazz.  She holds two degrees from Đại Học Văn Hóa Nghệ Thuật Quân Đội (Military University of Performing Arts) in Hanoi, Vietnam, a bachelor's of fine arts earned in 2002 and master's of fine arts earned in 2013.

Born on October 16, 1980 in the town of Hạ Long of Quảng Ninh Province in Northern Vietnam, Ho Quynh Huong had dreamed of becoming a singer from her early childhood.  At the age of 15, she entered the Tiếng Hát Truyền Hình Toàn Quốc, a nationally televised talent competition, and won the prize award for Most Promising Young Vocalist.  A year after graduating from college, Ho Quynh Huong released her first solo studio album, Vào Đời (2003).  The following year, she along with pop male singer Kasim Hoàng Vũ were each honored with a Làn Sóng Xanh Award for Most Promising New Artist.  This was her first out of a total of ten times winning the coveted accolade throughout her career to date.  Ho Quynh Huong would go onto to release a string of wildly successful solo studio albums such as Ngày Dịu Dàng (2004), 14M - 2222 (2005), Non-Stop (2007), Diamond Noir (2007), Năng Lượng (2009), Anh (2010) and Giáng Sinh An Lành (2010).  In 2007, she formed her own music production label, Diamond Noir Entertainment, named after her solo studio album released in that same year.  In 2008, Ho Quynh Huong was selected by the government of Vietnam to perform at the Beijing Summer Olympics.  In 2010, Ho Quynh Huong traveled with singer/actor Nam Cường to perform at the annual Vietnam Festival held at Yoyogi Park located in the Shibuya District of Tokyo together with Japanese pop star of Vietnamese descent, Phongchi.




At the peak of her popularity,  in 2011 Ho Quynh Huong decided to take a break and slow down her career.  During the next four years, she performed in a total of only ten live concert shows and released two solo studio albums, Quảng Ngãi Nhớ Thương (2012) and Tĩnh Lặng (2013).  In 2014, Ho Quynh Huong became the third Vietnamese artist following Mỹ Tâm and Thu Minh to win a MAMA Award held in Seoul, South Korea in the category of Asian Artist of the Year.  As of 2015, she has resumed her grueling schedule of live performances throughout Vietnam and abroad.  Her last studio album released to date was entitled as Hương Xưa 1 (2016).  In addition, Ho Quynh Huong has released two well-received live albums, Tôi Là Sinh Viên (2006) and Sắc Màu Hồ Quỳnh Hương (2011).  Among her most popular recorded songs include Lời Nguyện Cầu written by Hà Dũng, Với Anh Em Vẫn Là Cô Bé written by Lương Bằng Quang, Hoang Mang written by Võ Hoài PhúcMong Anh Về Đây written by Yên Lam and Honey, a song she had written herself.


At present, Ho Quynh Huong is a professor at the Military University of Performing Arts.  Considered to be one of the wealthiest entertainers in Vietnam today, she remains still unmarried and lives by herself in a luxurious mansion in Hanoi.
