Thu Minh

Thu Minh (1977-    ) is a Vietnamese singer, often dubbed as the Queen of Dance Music.  She began her career after winning first prize at the age of 16 in the nationally acclaimed talent contest, Tieng Hat Truyen Hinh Thanh Pho Ho Chi Minh.  Among her most popular hit songs have included Nho Anh, Chuong Gio, Bong May Qua Them, Mong Anh Ve, Duong Cong, Bay, Taxi and Xinh.  In 2011, Thu Minh participated and won first prize in the Vietnamese version of Dancing with the Stars.  In 2013, she served on the panel of mentors alongside Dam Vinh Hung, Ho Ngoc Ha and the late Tran Lap on the popular television show, Giong Hat Viet (The Voice of Vietnam).  

Born in Hanoi on September 22, 1977, Thu Minh grew up as the youngest in a family of three children.  At the age of five, her family relocated to Ho Chi Minh City.  Thu Minh is the only member in her family to have gone into show business.  Since gaining prominence as a pop singer in Vietnam, Thu Minh has released a series of successful solo studio albums which include Uoc Mo (2001), Loi Cuoi (2003), Neu Nhu (2004), Tinh Em (2005), Thien Dang (2006), I Do (2008), Giac Quan Thu Sau (2010) and Body Language (2011).

In 2013, Thu Minh reached the pinnacle of her success with her taped for television live show, Dau An.  The show contained performances of her top hits along with a guest appearance of fellow diva, My Linh.  It became a ratings winner on Vietnam national television and is one of the most popular televised live concerts in Vietnam to date.

Since October of 2012, Thu Minh has been married to a Dutch businessman named Otto.  On May of 2015, she gave birth to a son.  Thu Minh is very outspoken on certain social causes.  She is an avid supporter of gay rights and marriage equality for all.
