Born as Phan Quốc Bảo Hân on April 25, 1973 in Saigon, South Vietnam, she is the youngest in a family of four children. Her family left Vietnam and resettled in Vienna, Austria upon the Fall of Saigon when she was just 2 years old. At the age of 12, Bao Han began singing for weddings and parties in the Vietnamese community of Vienna with her family's band, Cờ Vàng (Yellow Flag), which had been formed by her father who sang lead and also included her two older brothers on drums and keyboard. At the age of 17, she was crowned Miss Vietnam - Austria of 1990. That same year, Bao Han traveled to Paris, France to compete in the Miss Saigon beauty pageant sponsored by renowned Vietnamese fashion designer Thành Lễ where she placed as 2nd runner up. Despite not winning the crown at the Miss Saigon beauty pageant in Paris, Bao Han was approached by fashion designer Thành Lễ to model his line of áo dài, the Vietnamese traditional formal wardrobe mostly worn by women. During one of Thành Lễ's fashion shows in Paris, Bao Han caught the attention of Marie Tô, the CEO of Thuy Nga. In 1992, Bao Han made her debut on the Paris By Night stage as the opening act on volume 7 in a medley duet performance with singer Thái Tài. For the next 18 years, Bao Han would continue to dazzle millions of viewers of the Paris By Night video series with her slick dance moves, energetic style of performance and beauty. Among her most well received performances on the Paris By Night series include songs such as Khắc Vào Tim (Cross My Heart), I'll Be Your Girl, Remember Me, Remember You written by Tim Heinz, Một Kiếp Phong Ba written by Nhật Ngân, Cô Bé Hờn Dỗi written by Nguyễn Ngọc Thiện, Chiếc Lá Mùa Đông written by Khúc Lan, Save Tonight, Thì Thầm Mùa Xuân written by Ngọc Châu, Niềm Vui Hồn Nhiên written by Lê Xuân Trường, Dưới Ánh Nắng Mặt Trời written by Quốc Khanh, Ngỡ Ngàng written by Chu Minh Ký, Khoảng Trống written by Võ Thiện Thanh, Dấu Yêu Ơi! written by Thái Thịnh and My Shining Star written by Bảo Thạch. Bao Han has recorded many duets with various artists including Lây Minh, Jenny Loan, Hồ Lệ Thu, Tommy Ngô, Lynda Trang Đài, Lương Tùng Quang, Loan Châu, Tú Quyên, Thuỷ Tiên, Như Loan, Don Hồ and Henry Chúc. She has performed in concert for overseas Vietnamese live audiences all over the world.
While at the peak of her career, Bao Han was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease in 2009. A year later, she announced her retirement from the music industry. Bao Han made her last appearance to date on the Paris By Night series on volume 109 entitled as Paris By Night 30th Anniversary, filmed in 2013 at Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.
